It was my clever intention to "interview" the twins for this blog post. I would ask them questions on camera and they would supply the cute, smiley, cooing answers. Hmmm. Somehow it went horribly awry. For the better part of an hour I tried to make a suitably funny video. The following about sums up my efforts:
I gave up and just put them side by side on the floor. I thought I could at least get some video of them kicking around together. But what I got was so much better than that.
From the moment the twins were born, they have been separated. They didn't share a bassinet in the hospital, they sleep in separate rooms at home, and they rarely see each other during the day as their nap schedules don't coincide. The few times they are together, they only know the other is there from the occassional whacking from a wayward arm or leg. That's why this next video is precious to me. Bex sees Dee pretty early on in the video. Then all of a sudden, Dee trains her eyes on Bex, and they seem to go still, regarding eachother. A few seconds later, Dee erupts with a shriek, as if in recognition. "Hey, my old wombmate! I know
you!" Maybe it's the beginning of their "twinspeak". I wonder what they are saying to each other?
Dee: "Hi old wombie!"
Bex:"How ya been?"
D:"Oh, you know, just chillin' in my crib".
B: "You been stayin' up nights?"
D: "Nah, they got hip to my game. Now I do the daytime gig".
B: "Hey, you really wanna freak 'em out? Let's not poop for a week. Mom'll go nuts!"
D: "hee hee, yeah!"

Ohmygoodness! They are sooo ADORABLE!
Oh, that second video is so precious! Might I suggest putting them together more often? When they are ready for tummy time it might make it easier for them to hand on their tummies.

OMG Elle... This video is SO precious. (And. I know I shouldn't laugh at the first one, but I did. Sophie was so MAD!)
TOO freaking cute. That last one is definitely a keeper.
Oh my goodness! They are soooo cute and getting so BIG! They really do seem to recognize each other, don't they! Thanks for the post!
I shared this with my entire staff and they all agree that this would be a great commercial. Of course being their grandmother, I agree wholeheartedly. They are beautiful!!
Oh Linda Lou how adorable! They just stared at each other! You forget all the little sounds they make when they are babies. Thank you so much for sharing these precious moments between the twins with us!
i came across your blog from Pioneer Woman, a comment you made about having twins today and I thought it would be nice to read about the life of another mom with twins. I have 15 month old ID twin girls and they keep me busy most of the time. But I wanted to comment about the varied schedule you have going - it really makes things harder as you get no rest. I'm not sure if you have help most of the time, as I did in the beginning and don't now. Although my girls slept in the same bed from birth (NICU recommended, they were born 6 weeks early) and they slept in an arm's reach co-sleeper. They were slightly seperated, as we had them propped up in the co-sleepers you can have on your bed as well. They seemed to sleep so much better when they were placed side by side without the smaller co-sleeper. When they got too big to sleep in the arms-reach co-sleeper, we only had enough room for 1 bed in our room, so the most needy got it. The other girl got her own crib in a shared bedroom with her then 6yo sister. We like it this way as they will wake each other up now. But as it is, I have time to myself for an hour or so as they are asleep on make-shift beds (fluffy folded blankets on the ground) because they are on the same schedule. eating times can be a bit harried. I remember those days when I was nursing one and bottle feeding the other... oh I'm still having those days (one had breating issues and never latched on well so she liked the bottle more and i pump for her)... but i don't know how long I would have lasted if they were on opposite schedules - I made every effort to make sure they werent. To this day, I love when they see each other and give hugs and kisses as they start their day together. But that's just my opinion. :)
